A Message from Marlene Chism, the president of ICARE Presentations
ICARE is an acronym that stands for "Improving Communication and Relationships Everywhere."  ICARE was a commitment I made to myself when I went through a significant life change.

It was back in 1998, and I was working in manufacturing on the factory floor as a blue collar worker.  I had been there for twenty years and I was in what I refer to as the third of the three life tragedies. Well actually I was in between tragedy two and three. Let me tell you about the three life tragedies and the stages of reinvention.

The Three Life Tragedies
The first tragedy is when you know you want something more, but you don't know what it is.  The second life tragedy is when you have the courage to say what you want, but you don't believe that what you want is even possible. The third life tragedy is when you know what you want, you believe it's possible, and now you have to be willing to do what is required to become the creator of your life.Fast forward, and I have a master's degree, have spoken around the country, developed several membership sites for leaders and managers, and authored two books; Success is a Given, and Stop Workplace Drama (Wiley  2011).

The Key is Personal Development
A lot of people ask me how I made the huge leap from being a factory worker to a national speaker and author. It was actually a process that started with a commitment to develop myself personally. I was a late bloomer. I didn't even graduate from college until I was almost forty years old.  My first introduction to personal development was in a college class, then later I invested in myself and learned about some things that are part of my work today, namely, the Karpman Drama Triangle.

Evolution
My message is still grounded in the original commitment of improving communication and relationships, but the work has evolved and expanded over the years to include the Stop Your Drama Methodology as well as many tools for development.  Take a look below and click on your area of interest, and I'll see you on one of the other sites!
